Porsche has announced the launch of the Boxster Spyder.

They are looking to unveil the new car in LA at the auto show in December.

They started the redesign by removing about 160 lbs of material and adding 10 Hp to the engine.

More power and less weight? That is always a winning combination. It is also been said that they have changed the suspension setup and lowered the overall center of gravity. This will help the Boxster’s already impressive cornering ability.

They found a weight here and there by thinning or removing unnecessary items like A/C and a heavy radio. You can put them back it but it would defeat the point.

Beside, why do you need A/C in a convertible. When it is hot outside you put the roof down, not turn on the A/C.

A lot of motors have been removed as they add up weight very quickly. The fully powered roof is replaced with an easy to use manual one.

Expect a 0-60 MPH of around 4.8 seconds and a fuel economy of 30 MPG. Overall pretty good numbers.

The new car should cost around the same a current Boxster S with the ability to add options like PDF and the Sport Chrono Package.
