Driving Distractions

How do more distractions make the road safer?
With governments everywhere passing laws about driving distractions why do more keep getting added to cars?
I was reading that the Ford Sync system is going to add the ability to read Twitter Tweets while you are driving. Do you really need to do that? Why do you need to do that? Isn’t that distracting?
But it is “hands free” so it is safe according to the government. I just don’t get it. Wait until you get home to tweet or tweet from your phone when you are stopped. Please do not do it while changing lanes at 70 MPH.
The other day I saw a delivery van for an advertising company with a large TV on the back of it. It was dark out so I could see the brightly lit screen from a distance. I never got close enough to the truck to see the company it was for but I hope they read this post and take that truck off the road.
The TV was showing what looked like a music video with flashing lights and runway models. I do not need to see this at highway speeds.
If the government is going to tell us what to do when driving why do they allow these new distractions on the road?
Please, focus on driving and we will all get home safely.
