Mosport Club Race PCA UCR

Recently the Porsche Club had their annual Club Race at Mosport track in Clarington.

I was on hand to help grid the cars so they could get each race going as quickly as possible. I had an absolute blast and met all sorts of interesting people. All of the cars were in order while the previous race was still in progress. Maximum track time for each of the driver.

There were professional race teams, prototype teams, semi-professional teams and Porsche owners who wanted to stretch their car’s legs a bit and have some fun.

The racing from all of the levels was equally good and it proved that talent pays off more than an expensive car. The overall winner was one of the older cars that attended. Of course, it is likely heavily modified for racing.

I took quite a few action shots and they came out pretty well. Take a look and leave a comment if you like any of them.

Porsche 918 Spyder Pricing Announced

by Richard on Jul.14, 2010, under Car News

Get out you checkbooks because I know that everyone and their dog wants to get a hold of that amazing 918 Spyder that Porsche announced earlier this year in Geneva.

A quick recap, 500+ HP, 0-60 in only 3.2 seconds and it gets 78 MPG.

It can outrun Ferrari’s and outmilage a Prius. Oh, and it looks fantastic. Sounds like a great deal all around.

Before I tell you the price, let me remind what it looks like

Now that you are warmed up here you go.

Only $630,000 USD. Mere pocket change, right?

At that price and that fuel economy this car car should pay for itself in gas savings in about 83 years. At least that is how I am going to justify it. I will let you know how that works out.

It is a great car but it is also the most expensive road going model Porsche makes. Oh well, if someone reading this buys one, please let me know and maybe we can go for a spin.

PCA UCR Concours 2010

by Richard on Jun.27, 2010, under Uncategorized

Today the Porsche Club of America, Upper Canada Region held its annual Concours or Show & Shine in Milton.

The event was attended by 100’s of people who all came out to see over 80 Porsche cars on display. There was an example of virtually every Porsche ever built.

Starting from a 1956 356A right up a 2010 Panamera and a 2011 Cayenne Turbo and everything in between.

There were also some rare race cars including a carbon fiber GT1 race car on display.

It was a great chance to learn about the different models that Porsche has made over the years. It was also a great chance to catch up with some old friends and to make new ones. Everyone is more than happy to talk about their cars if you ask them.

2000 Ferrari 360 Modena

by Richard on Jun.13, 2010, under Car Reviews

Up Close and Personal With A Ferrari 360 Modena

This stunning machine has been completely restored after an accident from a previous owner decided that a crumpled front end would give better aerodynamics.

Since that experiment was not as successful as hope it was restored to its former glory through years of work and dedication.

No matter what angle you look at it looks completely new and it runs like a dream.

How does it drive you ask? The answer is easy. It drives like a 400 HP mid-engine Ferrari.

That is to say amazing. The power, the acceleration, the noise and response is like nothing else on the road today.

Every time that you shift gears up there is more power on tap. The power just keeps going and going, no matter how fast you are going.

It does all this while being practical enough to go shopping in. There is a trunk in the front big enough for over night backs or large shopping backs. It can even get over speed bumps in mall parking lots.

All in all, it is a great car that anyone would be happy to have.

1963 Ferrari GTO Sets New Record

by Richard on May.23, 2010, under Uncategorized

Evans, A Radio DJ in Britain, recently paid $12 Million for a 1963 Ferrari GTO as an investment.

As far as investments go this is a good one. They are only going to go up in value as no more will ever be made and as more of them are scrapped due to damage or theft the value of the remaining ones will only go up.

An investment like this is probably better than a real estate deal. And this one you can drive on the road.

The 250 GTO is very rare and considered to be one of the best cars Ferrari has ever produced. By today’s standards it can be out accellerated by a family sedan but the GTO will soon leave any other car in the dust on a track. This car did well in a lot of racing series in its day.

Each of the original owners had to be pre-approved, not just anyone could buy one reports brokerbusinessloan.com. If you ever get a chance to see a real one you are seeing a true piece of motoring history.
