I found this at the grocery store this morning and thought I would share it.

I do not personally drink energy drinks but a know that a lot of people do.

The clever folks at NOS put their energy drink in the same bottle that the cans of NOS for your car come in. Check it out below.

If you have not heard of NOS or nitrous oxide it is an additive you put into your engine to make your car go really fast. It is illegal in street cars in most areas and it is extremely flammable so you have to be careful with it.

If the energy drink is as powerful as the additive for you car this must be quite the drink. From the comments so far, it actually tastes pretty good.

There are a lot of home made videos as advertisements for the nos energy drink, I thought this one was funnier than the others.

Which Of These luxurious cars Is The Best Luxury Car?

I attended the Auto Show recently and wanted to see if I could answer the question about what makes luxurious cars and what do I think is the current best luxury car based on the interior.

While most people focus on the exterior, the badge, the engine and the price tag I think there is more to it than that.

For me the most important aspect of the car is the interior. After all, when you are driving your car that is what you see.

Other people see the outside but you see the inside the whole time you are driving.

Dodge Caliber

Dodge Caliber

This is definitely not a good interior. It feels as cheap as the rest of the car. It is a cheap car and it is reliable transportation but that is not what we are talking about here. Everything you can see in picture is hard plastic. Including the seats. I had one for a rental once. The center arm rest is so hard it hurts your elbow. So you move your elbow closer to your body where it hits the seat belt latch. Very annoying. Next.

Chevy Aveo

Chevy Aveo

Aveo Rear Seats

The Chevrolet Aveo is a small car for the city. The back seats as you can see are quite cramped which makes you wonder why they bothered to make it a sedan. The interior has good fit and finish but most of the dash is still hard plastic. At least it is functional.

I could go on but you get the idea. Small and cheap cars in North America are usually pretty bad. The Nissan Sentra is another example of a hard plastic dash. Why do people buying cars in the market have to suffer so much?

Ford Fiesta

Ford Fiesta

As long as the Ford Fiesta stays true to its European roots we may have a revolution in the small car in North America. Finally a good looking, well laid out dashboard. The materials have some give to them so it does not feel like you are driving something made out of Lego blocks. I am watching this little car with some serious interest.

BMW 7 Series

BMW 760Li Interior

BMW 760Li Rear Seats

Ok, how can you compare a 760Li to an Aveo? Easy, I am just looking at styling, not cost. There is no rule or law that says that small car need to be hard plastic and boxy. As you can see the BMW is rich looking with wood panels and white leather. It is expensive but is it any good? To me, not really. There is no substance and there are way too many buttons. Personally, i hate wood in my car but the demographic buying this car must like it. Why do people like these two tone dashboards so much? The back seats look very nice and very comfortable though. Power rear seats are a nice touch.

Where does that leave us? The cheap cars are plastic and hard. The expensive cars are fussy. The best cars for me have a classy feel to them and have good materials. The Audi R8 has a great interior if you ever get a chance to check it out.

The answer is whatever you are driving is a good luxury. The concept of luxury is not well defined and you have to go with what you like.

Looking For A Safe Place To Put Your Money? Try Exotic And Classic Cars on eBay Classic Cars.

Recently a 1957 Ferrari 250 Testa Roadster sold for around $12,000,000 (yes, $12 million) at an auction according to Earth News.

It seems that with the word economy turning around people are looking to spend money again. And nothing is as exciting as spending $1,000,000’s on a classic or one-of-a kind automobile.

Since there are never going to be any more of them they only appreciate in value every year. And every time one is lost to accidents or theft the value of the remaining ones goes up because they are increasingly rare.

There are some good deals on the eBay classic cars that you can buy now as an investment and hold on to. Or you if you are handy, you can buy a well used classic old car and restore it yourself. A fully restore classic is worth a lot more than a barely running shell.

According To Business Week, Porsche is planning to sell over 10,000 of their luxury cars in China in 2010.

In 2009 they sold over 9,000 cars which represents a good portion of the total sales of Porsche world wide. China is emerging as a very wealthy country.

Amazingly they mention that the Panamera costs $260,000 which is significantly more than the approx $100,000 USD it is here. Does anyone know where the extra cost comes from?

It can’t be shipping as it has to be shipped to North America as well. My guess it a tax imposed on the imported vehicle but I am hoping someone can confirm that.

If you are looking for your own Used Porsche Panamera for cheaper in North America, you are in luck. They are available for you.

Just the first few seconds of the video with the exhaust noise is perfect. Turn up your speakers if you are not at work.

He brings up a good point that this car is called a roadster not the usual volante. What do you make of that?

Just recently the Tesla Roadster went on sale in Canada

What does this mean and what is a Tesla Roadster anyways?

I am glad you asked, the Tesla is an all electric sports car that is available to the public. Unlike previous electric cars they have not made a slow box that can not get above city street speed and only has enough power to get to the grocery store this is a serious car.

It has enough range to go about 200km on a single charge (depending on how you drive) and can reach an electronically limited top speed of 155 MPH.

All this while achieving 0 L / 100km or infinite MPG. Tesla was determined not to chicken out and put a heavy gasoline engine in just to charge the batteries or to make it a hybrid.

Being a pure electric sports car this car can really deliver the speed. Reaching 60MPH in around 4.0 seconds is fast enough for more people. Also, being a pure sports car the $100,000 USD price tag is standard. But it is worth every penny.

The gauge on the dashboard tells you the power consumption from your driving style. Under full acceleration the car is consuming 200 KW of power. To put that into perspective an average detached home has about 12 KW of power available to it.

Under normal driving the consumption is far less and the car is able to reclaim a lot of power when you are slowing down for lights or stop signs. You hardly need to use the brakes as the motor becomes a generator and puts power back into the batteries. You hardly notice the change and the car responds instantly if you ask it to.

As you look at the pictures take a look at the door sill, yes it is that wide and you need to get over it to get into the car. I guess it is nearly a foot wide and makes it less than graceful to get in and out of. That does not matter because once you are in the car you do not want to get out. The foot wells are a bit small but you quickly get used to it.

You can also see the custom made Tesla Roadster Charger that comes with the car to mount in your garage for overnight chargers. You can also get a portable unit to charge the car when you stop at a hotel for the night. The Tesla Roadster Motor is also visible as it fills the entire back of the car where you trunk normally goes.

You will become quite friendly with your passenger but that just adds to the charm.

While driving this car around the city I have never felt like such a celebrity. Everyone was taking my picture. Well, they were taking pictures of the car I was driving but the though is nice still.

I am still putting my thoughts together about this car. It is like nothing that I have ever driven before.

If more electric cars were made like this we would have no use for foreign oil.

And no, you can’t make the tires spin, the computer will not let you. They claim that the motor has enough power to put the car into an immediate 360 degree spin but the software keeps the car from doing that. Lucky for us.

When it was still warm where I live I had the opportunity to test drive the new 2010 Ferrari California.

This was my first time driving a Ferrari and only the second time I had been in one that was moving. I have sat in many over the years and I had the chance to be a passenger on an autocross track in a 360 coupe a few years back, that was amazing.

Now I am behind the wheel trying to see what all the fuss is about? Why does a car like this cost over $250,000? That is more than many people spend on their homes. There has to be a reason. Lets find out.

The styling of the car is incredible, it is something that you just want to sit and look at for a while to take in every detail. Just look at it in the pictures.

Sliding into the rich leather of the interior the seat is firm and supporting but still manages to be comfortable. This is a cruiser after all, not a hard core racer.

Pressing the start button and the engine roars into life. I can not explain how good that sounds and I wish I was able to record it but it would not do it justice. The whole seems to come alive when the engine starts.

When you have the Ferrari racing wheel in your hand a high-strung V8 under your right foot the world seems to take on a different outlook. Suddenly you feel that you can do anything and things like laws do not apply to you.

I am talking about the laws of physics, you always have to obey the laws of the road. Speeding is just dangerous.

Put the flappy-paddle into drive and get on the gas and the car takes off like a rocket ship. 0-60 MPH is over in around 3.9 which is enough for me (for now). Regardless of the shape of the corner or the curve the car just digs into the road like you glued to the road and are just holding on.

Even while doing this the car remains comfortable and composed.

Just when you think you are at the edge, put the car into “sport” mode and everything just stiffens and goes to the next level. The steering is more precise, the throttle more responsive and the suspension stiffens up. Now the corners almost straighten out like they are not even there.

Watch out for potholes or bumps or you might take the pretty nose right off the car if you are not careful. It is pretty low.

On full out acceleration with your foot buried in the carpet, wait until all the LEDs on the steering wheel light up before shifting up. When all the light come on you are having that massive V8 turning at over 7000 RPM and you can tell it is loving every second of it. At those speeds there is so much wonderful noise you can not hold a conversation with your passenger. Of course, you couldn’t under those conditions anyways since you have to concentrate so hard.

If you can’t hear the engine, you are in the wrong gear.

When you are at your destination, stop the car, get out and just try to wipe the grin off your face. Take one more look at the body work and lock the doors before walking away.

Just try to not take another look as you are walking away.

Do I love this car? Absolutely.

Is it worth $250,000? Yes and No. If you have the money it is worth it, if not please do not mortgage your house to make the payments on it.

How do more distractions make the road safer?

With governments everywhere passing laws about driving distractions why do more keep getting added to cars?

I was reading that the Ford Sync system is going to add the ability to read Twitter Tweets while you are driving. Do you really need to do that? Why do you need to do that? Isn’t that distracting?

But it is “hands free” so it is safe according to the government. I just don’t get it. Wait until you get home to tweet or tweet from your phone when you are stopped. Please do not do it while changing lanes at 70 MPH.

The other day I saw a delivery van for an advertising company with a large TV on the back of it. It was dark out so I could see the brightly lit screen from a distance. I never got close enough to the truck to see the company it was for but I hope they read this post and take that truck off the road.

The TV was showing what looked like a music video with flashing lights and runway models. I do not need to see this at highway speeds.

If the government is going to tell us what to do when driving why do they allow these new distractions on the road?

Please, focus on driving and we will all get home safely.

Now you do not need to stand in the way of oncoming cars or freeze in the woods to watch your favorite car go by. The clip features many GT3 cars doing what they do best. Racing. If you want to learn to drive like they do you are going to have a lot of fun.

If you would like to get a Used Porsche GT3 and do this yourself you can do that as well.

Enjoy.

Have You Drifted a 911 In The Snow?

After a good snow fall the thrill seekers always try to find an open parking lot that has not been plowed recently to do some donuts. While we do not recommend this in any public area for safety reasons it is good fun.

Sliding around in the snow puts the least amount of wear on your car if you want to practice drifting and sliding. It is easier on your car, and your tires, than on wet and certainly easier than dry pavement.

All driving schools should include at least one lesson on driving in the snow. It is crucial that you know how to handle your car if the back end starts to shake loose. What if you have a rear wheel drive car? front-wheel? are you breaking or accelerating? turning or going straight?

You need to know how to get out a situation like this safely.

A 911 is a perfectly balanced car but it is rear engine and rear wheel drive and that makes a unique situation in the snow slide. Great for holding drifts though.

While drifting a 911 in the snow will certainly get your pulse pounding check out this video.

The video is in German but you get the point. He drives the Nordschleife in a 911 with a good amount of snow on the ground. This would take some serious concentraion and skill

While any car, with the right tires, can be driven safely in the snow it is important that you have a good understanding of the mechanics of your car and that your car is in good shape. Based on the number of accidents and the number of cars in the ditch every snow storm it is clear that people underestimate the effect of the snow on their car.

If you are serious about improving you skills check out Porsche Camp 4 in Finland or find a local school that will teach you how to safely handle the snow.
