In case you have not heard, Porsche has made a 4 door sedan.

I know what you are thinking? Why? How? Who? These are all good questions and they deserve good answers.

I for one am in favor of the Panamera. Porsche has insisted that it is a proper Porsche and not a watered down version with a fancy badge. I know the v-shaped engines in the front of the car will turn some purists off but you have you have to make a car work as well as perform. For the most part I quite like the styling of the car. It preserves much of the character of the coupes while adding its own flair. Some have criticized the hatchback, but if you think about it, the Caymans and and 911s have a hatchback shape to them. I feel that it makes the car quite faithful.

If I can get the same drive as my Boxster S and be able to put a baby seat in the back, that sounds good to me! I know the 911’s have somewhat of a back seat to them but I could not image trying to get a car seat in and out of the car. Unless it was a cabriolet, hmmm….

You see them whizzing down the highway in the middle of the summer and you wonder how great it would be to have one. You think yourself that you would drive around the country side with the top down or is sunroof retracted and just enjoy the drive. Every drive would be special and you don’t necessarily need a destination to enjoy the drive.

After living with a Porsche Boxster S for an entire summer I learned the truth behind owning high performance sports car. While some people may not feel the Porsche Boxster S is a true high performance sports car it’s pretty darn good.

Driving a Porsche is like driving no other car on the road from the way it handles to the way it sits in the road to the feel of the steering wheel to the feel of the brake pedals it is truly a driver’s car. I absolutely love driving the Porsche. I remember days driving around with the top down country roads with long slow curves going past the lakes the sun shining and whether being absolutely perfect. Those are fantastic drives.

The portion is a little short on creature comforts that that is the way it is designed and that is why you buy it. People say that the radio is the biggest downfall on the entire car. But I wonder how you even here the radio with the top down? And white even need a radio when you have the engine and the exhaust?

The biggest thing I found was that you run out of road before you run out of revs. The car just simply has too much power for the street and with the strictness of the law these days than just no taking chances. I never got a chance to fully drive this car because it never took it on track. I would love the opportunity to drive his car in a a spirited manner on a racetrack.

When you driving your own car on a racetrack you have no insurance and that was the biggest thing that kept me away from driving this car on the track and also kept me away from find a true limits of the car.

I had an absolutely great time driving the Porsche and I look forward to owning one again.

Today I had to try the new Porsche 911 Carrera with the new PDK transmission and direct fuel injection.

First, the important bit. Wow. That is almost all that needs to be said. It is an incredibly power and fun car to drive. It is quite a bit different than the boxster. You can just keep putting out more power from that 3.6L flat six. The fact that it has almost 100 HP more than the boxster does go a long way to how it drives.

The dashboard give a lot of information. Maybe a bit too much at first glance but you get used to it very quickly. Besides, other than the tach, what else do you really need?

The car be driven calmly and in traffic but when you want to push it a bit, the engine happily revs away with just a light push of your big toe. As with all Porsche’s the brakes are extremely powerful and you can stop on a dime and get change.

The new PDK transmission or PorscheDoppelkupplung is an amazing thing. I think it translates into Porsche Double Clutch. In essence there are two clutches in the transmission. One is for the even numbers gears and the other is for the odd numbered gears. When you shift it only has to engage/disengage the cluches as the gears are already meshed and the throttle is matched as well. The PDK is rated a 0-60 of 4.5 seconds while the manual is around 4.7 seconds. Does this spell the end of the manual transmission? Only time will tell….

The direct fuel injection system gives more power with less weight and less gas. In this market less gas is always a good thing.

There are many amazing cars at the dealership. A GT3, plenty of Carrera’s, a done up 911 Turbo and Boxsters and caymans. Some people really take a lot of care choosing options and the results is stunning.
I had never seen the hard top option for the Boxster before. I can see its use but I really like having a convertible.
