Minivans. What other one word can send such a chill up someones spine. I doubt many people would say their dream car is a minivan. If you asked somebody if they wanted a free Ferrari or a free minivan, which would they choose?

They are practical, utility and they are everywhere. They may be useful but they are sure boring, if not ugly. Most are big boxes with little wheels. Some can take entire sheets of plywood or drywall in them, but how often do you need that?

I find them difficult to drive with the numb steering, the large wind catching sides and soft suspensions. Though some are much better than others.

Every year car designs are supposed to be pushing the edges of design and art. Sometimes they go to far and people are too scared. Other times they go so far backwards in time we wonder what they are doing.

Case in point, is the new Dodge Caravan. I appreciate they are are very useful for families or moving stuff. But from a design standpoint, I can not figure it out. It looks we are going back to the boxy 80’s of design. The old body style, as boxy as it was much more attractive than the new one.

I think this picture sums up the design of the Caravan quite well.
